Assistant Base Manager

Job Introduction

Reporting into the Base Manager, the Assistant Base Manager’s role is to supervise the workshop activities ensuring equipment is inspected, repaired, maintained and available to meet our business demands. In addition you will also provide cover for the Base Manager as and when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Base Manager to plan the repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Cary out maintenance and repairs to returned equipment
  • Support Base Manager with planning and completion of certification/calibration of equipment
  • Ensure effective workload planning so the availability of equipment meets business needs
  • Assist with fleet checks and stock takes as and when required
  • To assist the Base Manager with recruiting activities
  • Support in ensuring individuals are trained and developed effectively to be able to carry out their roles
  • At all times, work in accordance with company HSE rules and procedures ensuring a safe working environment for the team
  • When it is considered necessary or appropriate by management you may be required to carry out any other duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience of working in a similar workshop environment
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Supervisory experience - Desirable
  • Knowledge of Hire Industry - Desirable 
  • Knowledge of compressors and steam generators - Desirable 
  • Mechanical maintenance background with diesel engine - Desirable
  • Understanding of certification requirements - Desirable
  • Valid driving licence preferable but not essential
