Assistant Branch Manager (Workshop and Warehouse)

Job Introduction

Are you a hands-on leader with a strong background in managing workshops and warehouse operations? We're looking for an Assistant Branch Manager to join our team and play a key role in supporting the efficient day-to-day running of our depot.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with management experience and a passion for operational excellence to step into a varied and rewarding role. You’ll supervise workshop and warehouse teams, ensuring high standards in equipment readiness, stock management, and health & safety. You'll also provide cover for the Branch Manager, taking on managerial responsibilities when required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee workshop activity to ensure equipment is serviced and made available within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain a tidy, organised warehouse and ensure stock is picked, rotated, and loaded accurately.
  • Ensure all stock movements and workshop activity are recorded and compliant with internal procedures.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met efficiently, with a focus on plant availability, damage reduction, and quality control.
  • Support the delivery and return process, ensuring safe and accurate loading and unloading of equipment.
  • Act as Branch Manager when required, managing profitability, resource allocation, and team leadership.
  • Monitor costs, support revenue and profit targets, and ensure branch KPIs are achieved.
  • Ensure branch operations comply with current health & safety legislation.
  • Maintain secure premises and always promote safe working practices.
  • Support driver compliance with regulations, including tachographs and vehicle checks.
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and ongoing development of branch staff.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, system usage, and compliance with all company admin procedures.
  • Carry out stock checks, ensure short plant lists are managed, and support internal audits.


What We’re Looking For

  • Previous management or supervisory experience – essential
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach
  • Familiarity with the hire industry – desirable
  • Knowledge of small tools or equipment – beneficial
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Driving licence – preferable but not essential
