Job Introduction
Groundforce is the market leading rental provider of excavation support, providing specialist equipment to customers worldwide. Reporting to the Logistics Manager and working closely with the transport and operational teams, your main responsibility is to ensure that you provide a professional and courteous delivery/collection service of products and equipment to our diverse customer base as directed, whilst ensuring company standards are maintained and customer expectations are met. Provide full support to your line manager delivering excellent service, ensuring all transport related transactions are completed safely, timely, efficiently, accurately and in line with company policies/procedures/processes and customer requirements to meet the overall objectives of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and collect equipment to/from customers, suppliers and other Vp businesses professionally, safely and on time in line with level of competency, to company procedures ensuring company policies and processes are followed
- Ensure Driver regulations are consistently adhered to under the Driver and Vehicle Standard Agency (DVSA)
- Conduct a thorough daily defect inspection on the vehicle and record this before any use
- Report any vehicle defects, or defect symptoms to your line manager that could prevent safe operation of the vehicle before using on the road
- Clean vehicle weekly and maintain in a good order
- Ensure accurate tachograph records are maintained to include driving periods, rest periods, other duties, etc. and are readily available for inspection
- Ensure equipment is loaded correctly, safely and securely restrained
- Ensure that all chains, straps and securing equipment is maintained and safe for use at all times with all defects to be reported immediately
- Have a positive attitude towards Health, Safety and the Environment reporting any issues to your Line Manager
- Ensure equipment is not left in public areas or in a position that could cause a hazard or risk to security.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours
- Be courteous at all times when dealing with customers and the general public and act as an ambassador for the company at all times
- Greet Customers with a friendly face and helpful attitude ensuring deliveries/collections are made on schedule in a timely manner
- Use of M42 App for delivery/collection schedule and customer signature capture
- Inform customers of estimated time of arrival (ETA)
- Ability to identify our equipment and advise of losses or damage, prior to customer signing and take confirmation photos where applicable
- Proactively assist with query resolution by taking photos of the load prior to unloading and after loading at our depots, customer sites and suppliers
- Requirement for sleeping out on a regular basis while delivering or collecting equipment from Groundforce depots, customer sites and suppliers
- When it is considered necessary or appropriate by management you may be required to carry out any other duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business, i.e. working in the depot assisting with operational duties when your vehicle is off the road
What We’re Looking For
- Valid, full & clean driving licence
- LGV Class 1 C Licence – Minimum 2 years LGV rigid truck driving experience essential (if applicable)
- Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) essential
- Flexible approach to working hours is essential – early starts, late finishes, occasional overnight stays and weekend work
- Able to speak, read & write the English language to a competent level
- Competent maths skills
- Willingness to deliver a high level of customer service and display a ‘can do’ attitude
- Ability to complete records, paperwork accurately is essential
- Capable of using scanners, PDA’s, tablets and computers
- A reasonable level of fitness is required
- Excellent time keeping skills is essential
