Job Introduction
As our Driver/Depot Operative you will be instrumental in the day to day running of our new Groundforce division, Non Mechanical Plant. This will be a new division focusing on non-mechanical plant operating out of our existing Wigan depot footprint.
Our Driver/Depot Operative will predominantly be delivering and collecting our equipment from customer locations in and around the Wigan area and potentially wider.
The post holder will then assist with depot tasks when there are no deliveries to ensure a proactive, team working approach.
It is expected that the post holder will develop and grow strong internal GF relationships and work closely with the Non Mechanical Plant team to support and contribute in its growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Clearly and confidently demonstrating our equipment to customers when required
- Displaying a professional customer service at all times whilst on site and driving the company vehicle
- Ensure that equipment is stored safely in line with procedures
- Alerting your line manager to new sites/potential new customers
- Carrying out vehicle checks every morning i.e. oil and water levels are sufficient, lights are working and tyres have the legal tread.
- Where required, adhere to legal guidelines around the use of tachographs
- Identifying any damaged plant upon collection
- Loading and unloading vehicles
- Support in the maintenance of plant equipment.
- Electronic and/or paper documents raised, completed and signed by the customer at the time of delivery/collection
- Assisting and attending stock takes as required
- Ensuring equipment is loaded correctly, not left in public areas and maintained to current Health & Safety standards
What We’re Looking For
- A full UK driver’s licence and Class 2 HGV licence
- Hands on and willing to get stuck in with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude.
- Driving/multi-drop delivery experience
- Able to demonstrate clear communication both verbally and written
- Comfortable using PDA devices, iPads, tablets, etc
- Flexible, trustworthy and reliable, with excellent time keeping skills
