About the Role


Groundforce is the market leading rental provider of excavation support, providing specialist equipment to customers worldwide. Reporting to the Depot Foreman, assisting them in delivering excellent service, ensuring all depot transactions are completed safely, timely, efficiently, accurately and in line with company policies/procedures/processes and customer requirements to meet the overall objectives of the business. Through the effective management of all resources available to you, ensure that customer service is maintained at the highest levels whilst maintaining high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental management. Deputise for the Depot Foreman in their absence.


Key Responsibilities


  • Working in the Depot under instructions from the Depot Foreman to make equipment ready for hire
  • Liaise with the Depot Foreman, to agree and understand our customers’ requirements and ensure that the highest level of service is maintained
  • Responsibility for assisting with the running of the depot, to ensure equipment is made ready timely for hire. In the absence of the Depot Foreman assume overall responsibility for the depot undertaking the associated Depot Foreman duties.
  • Supervise the depot team on a daily basis giving instructions on workload and tasks to be carried out
  • Ensure as far as is reasonably practicable, a safe working environment for the team. Have a proactive attitude towards Health, Safety and Environment reporting of any issues to ensure the depot operates within the legislation and in accordance with company policies and procedures  
  • Maintain effective cost control of stock and assets within the depot reducing Company costs where practical
  • Ensure stock levels are accurately maintained and quality of equipment is kept in line with company quality standards
  • Ensure the depot is secure at all times
  • Drive counter-balance or multi-directional forklift trucks to load/unload vehicles, move, prepare and store equipment (full in-house training will be provided)
  • Pick/return/scan equipment accurately and identify stock overages/shortages
  • Ensure equipment is loaded and unloaded correctly and safely
  • Inspect, service and repair specified hire equipment and depot assets in line with level of competency, to company procedures ensuring company policies and processes are followed
  • Use of pneumatic/electrical hand tools (full in-house training will be provided)
  • Keep up to date and accurate service/inspection records at all times
  • Identify and record damage of out of service equipment
  • Maintain the depot to a high standard keeping clean and tidy at all times
  • Occasionally drive the depot van as deemed necessary
  • When considered necessary or appropriate by management you may be required to carry out any duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business


What We’re Looking For


  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to complete records & paperwork accurately is essential 
  • To be computer literate and able to use Excel, Word and ELearning
  • Knowledge of how to scanners, PDA’s, tablets
  • To be flexible, trustworthy and reliable and have excellent time keeping skills is essential
  • Good awareness of Environment, Health and Safety in the work place with a proactive approach to the management thereof (full in house training will be provided)
  • A reasonable level of fitness is required
  • Valid full clean driving licence

Preferable skills:


  • Supervisor experience of managing an operations team would be advantageous but not essential
  • Able to read & understand engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of shoring commercial operations 
  • Working knowledge of any shoring/construction/housing/civil engineering or hire industry advantageous
  • Knowledge of shoring/hire industry
  • Qualified to at least IOSH Leading Safely level or similar (full in-house training will be provided)
