Job Introduction

We’re looking for a highly organised and proactive Operational Support & Logistics Manager to play a key role in supporting Torrent Trackside’s national operation. Reporting to the National Servicing Manager, you’ll be at the heart of coordinating planned maintenance, operational logistics and asset management, ensuring our people, equipment and spares are in the right place at the right time.

Working closely with Regional Service Managers, Mobile Fitters, Depots, the Control Centre, customers and suppliers, this is a varied and fast-paced role where you’ll help improve operational efficiency, maximise asset availability and keep our maintenance activities running smoothly across the country.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to support maintenance planning, quotations and effective operational delivery.
  • Coordinate spares and inventory requirements across the operation, helping to minimise shortages, reduce excess stock and avoid unnecessary emergency purchasing.
  • Support depots during peak periods, helping manage asset availability, inter-depot transfers, out-of-test equipment and non-presentations.
  • Provide additional support to the Control Centre and breakdown coordination teams during periods of high demand, holidays and absence.
  • Monitor operational activity and use data to identify opportunities to improve asset management, fitter productivity and maintenance delivery.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve inventory control, logistics efficiency and the overall utilisation of operational resources.
  • Build effective working relationships across the national operation, helping teams work together to deliver an efficient and reliable service for our customers.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience within rail, plant hire, equipment services or a similar operational environment.
  • Experience using planning, scheduling or maintenance management systems.
  • Good knowledge of service scheduling, resource planning, logistics or fleet and asset coordination.
  • Experience working within an SLA or contract-driven environment with a strong understanding of customer service requirements.
  • Previous involvement in asset, inventory or spares management would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to capture, analyse and report on operational information.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues across multiple locations.
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach with a genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service and operational excellence.
