Regional Fitter

Job Introduction

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a key player in the UKs equipment and tool hire industry as Regional Fitter for one of our eight regions. You will be responsible for repairing company-owned and customer machines to high standards and manufacturer specifications. This includes performing duties at branches and customer sites within the region as needed.

Please note that applicants must be based in the Midlands, particularly around the Birmingham, Nottinghamshire, or Derbyshire areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair and maintain equipment
  • Completion of test and run procedures on equipment
  • Attend equipment breakdowns and carry out repairs on equipment at branches within the region and at customer sites as and when required
  • Electronic and/or paper records are completed accurately and in line with company procedures
  • Manage and record data e.g. time allocation and spares used
  • Display professional customer service at all times whilst dealing with customers
  • Cover deliveries and collections when essential to business demands
  • Ensure company vehicles are driven safely and in accordance with UK law at all times
  • Demonstration of equipment
  • Carry out vehicle checks every morning i.e. sufficient oil and water levels, lights are working and tyres have the legal tread
  • Ensure the vehicle is always loaded safely and in line with company procedures
  • Where required, adhere to legal guidelines around the use of tachographs
  • Ensure company vehicles are driven safely and in accordance with UK law at all times
  • Assist and attend stock takes as required
  • Work with the business to ensure as far as is reasonably practicable personal and company compliance with current Health and Safety legislation

What We’re Looking For

  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Experience of working with machinery and tools, both mechanical and electrical
  • Relevant mechanical or electrical qualification or qualified by experience
  • Organised and methodical approach to work, taking pride in delivery
  • Professional customer service skills
  • Comfortable using IT equipment  
  • ‘Can do’ attitude to work and helping in other areas of the branch
  • Valid driving licence
  • Basic numeracy and literacy
