Workshop Supervisor

Job Introduction

Are you experienced in plant equipment and machinery? We’re seeking a skilled Workshop Supervisor to lead our workshop operations, ensuring quality, safety, efficiency, and compliance while working primarily on plant equipment and machinery. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in maintaining the tools and machinery that keep our business running.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you’ll oversee all workshop activities, with a focus on the inspection, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment and machinery. You’ll supervise a skilled team and collaborate with branch management to meet customer requirements, maintain stock control, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have a background in workshop environments, experience in team management, and strong interpersonal skills to foster a productive work atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the quality of the assets that pass through the workshop.
  • Ensuring stock levels of available hire fleet items are acceptable.
  • Overseeing the check and inspect process ensuring it is in line with the company procedures manual.
  • Ensuring that damage & missing accessories are recorded correctly.
  • Supervising any expenditure including spares and labour in line with the workshop budget.
  • Controlling and recording the issue of spares and materials.
  • Ensuring that the workshop and all assets are secure at all times.
  • Overseeing and ensure that all workshop equipment is maintained, repaired and fit for purpose.
  • Prohibiting the use of unsafe or faulty equipment.
  • Overseeing that the appropriate records/documentation relating to work carried out is kept up to date and to company standards/legal requirements.
  • Managing and reviewing all procedures and administration processes.
  • Ensure procedures and administration processes are followed by team members.
  • Liaising with the Branch Manager to identify and ensure agreed stock levels are adhered to

What We’re Looking For

  • Maths and English GCSE is essential
  • A further qualification would be desirable
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs
  • Capable of using software systems
  • Experience of working within a workshop environment is essential
  • Some experience of managing a team
  • Experience of managing processes and procedures
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
