Accounts Payable Manager

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to appoint an experienced Account Payable Manager in our head office SSC finance team in Long Eaton.  Reporting into the Transactional Finance Manager, your main responsibility will be to manage the Accounts Payable team to ensure invoices are efficiently and accurately processed and paid on time.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Effectively lead and develop the team to ensure a high level of service to the business by setting achievable KPIs, carrying out Performance and Development reviews on a regular basis, and ensuring individuals are trained and supported to be able to carry out their roles
  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers and divisional customers of the SSC, including playing an active role in promoting adherence to the purchasing policy, balanced with having the flexibility to cater for urgent business needs
  • Provide day to day support for AP Controllers to ensure all processes are performed accurately to standard procedures and service level agreements
  • Prioritise and monitor resources to maintain effective control measures and deliver best-in-class service by identifying process improvement opportunities and ensuring effective project management and KPI tracking as agreed with Head of SSC, for example query discovery and resolution speed, unallocated cash reduction
  • Oversee effectiveness of the team in terms of payments on time, invoice backlog, and unallocated cash reduction
  • Ensure timely, accurate and proper completion of all Accounts Payable activities, including verification and review of third party deliverables
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information to internal and external customers
  • Ensure appropriate department procedures are maintained, updated and documented


What We’re Looking For 

  • Experience of managing an effective transactional finance team
  • Competent people manager
  • Knowledge of all relevant UK legislation relating Accounts Payable activity
  • Ability to effectively report on all transactional activity
  • Pro-active approach to developing and enhancing processes and procedures to drive efficiencies
  • Experience of developing a team in an SSC environment 
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Knowledge of legal proceedings relating to transactional finance and associated practices
  • Comfortable using Transactional Finance systems and all MS Office packages
  • Excellent attention to detail
