Finance Assistant

Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our busy Shared Service Centre. As Finance Assistant you will report to the Finance Manager and assist the wider Finance Team in providing robust and continuously improving accounting and management information to the businesses using the Shared Service Centre.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Ownership of procedures for cashbooks and production of bank reconciliations.
  • Administer requests for payments – initiate and record transactions, following prescribed procedures, within given deadlines
  • Operate and improve your own share of accounting processes, providing valid balance sheet support where appropriate
  • Assist in the compilation of data to support external and internal audit requirements
  • Ensure appropriate procedure notes are maintained, updated and documented for defined areas of responsibility
  • Provide support to the Finance Manager and other team members, as required, ensuring effective maintenance of internal processes.
  • Involvement in key projects within the Finance Team, SSC and Group as directed

What We’re Looking For

  • Finance, accounting or other numerical degree or studying towards AAT or other financial qualification (e.g. CIMA/ACCA)
  • Willingness to progress further with accounting qualifications
  • Must have good degree of competence in Microsoft Excel and be willing to learn how to use other IT systems.
  • Experience of procedures in a finance environment would be advantageous
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Positive attitude and wish to take responsibility for the quality of customer service provided by the finance team
  • Excellent attention to detail
