Head of Finance

Job Introduction

The Groundforce Head of Finance is dynamic and influential role at the heart of the division, where you’ll work closely with the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team to shape key business decisions and drive performance. As a trusted business partner, you’ll bring insight, challenge, and strategic support across the division—helping to turn data into direction and strategy into action.

You’ll take the lead on commercial analysis, KPI reporting, planning and budgeting, while also tackling a variety of high-impact projects that keep the business moving forward. In addition, you’ll head up the divisional finance team, inspiring and developing talent, and act as a vital link with group finance to ensure seamless collaboration.

Key Responsibilities 

• Build strong relationships across the division, improving financial awareness and ownership of performance
• Act as the lead finance partner to the Divisional MD and leadership team, influencing strategy and driving results
• Provide clear, forward-looking financial analysis to support growth, investment, and efficiency
• Translate complex data into simple, actionable insights for decision-making
• Lead the finance team, ensuring accurate reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis
• Evaluate business cases and investment proposals with robust financial modelling
• Support the MD with reports and presentations for senior leadership and the Plc Board
• Partner closely with Group Finance and the Shared Service Centre to ensure consistency and alignment
• Champion process improvements, automation, and stronger financial controls across the division
• Mentor and develop the finance team, building a high-performance culture
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations

What We’re Looking For 

• A qualified CIMA/ACCA accountant
• Proven experience of working in partnership with both senior non-financial and financial managers
• Experience operating in a senior leadership role 
• Passionate about driving business change and being able to add value
• Ambitious, driven and able to work successfully on own initiative
• Experience in leading cross functional collaboration
• Proven ability to manage deadlines and concurrent challenges effectively
• Experience of working effectively during periods of organisational change
• Sound modelling and analytical skills
• Proven IT skills, utilising various systems and reporting platforms. Excel to an advanced level. Experience of Power Pivot and Tableau desirable but not essential
• Excellent communication skills
